Alliances

FRE has strong working ties with a number of other funder networks, including Funders Concerned About AIDS, International Human Rights Funders Group, Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues and the Africa Grantmakers Affinity Group. We always seek to strengthen these and establish additional connections to other funder networks, especially where our issues overlap or are linked and values are shared.

We are co-sponsors and advisory committee members of Common Vision, a national, multi-year project of Funders for Lesbian and Gay Issues that brings together a diverse array of foundation leaders in seven regions of the United States to learn from one another, build collaborative relationships, deepen their knowledge about LGBTQ issues and communities and strengthen their institutional commitment to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities.

We are involved in talks with other affinity group leaders around the vision of "Health Communities/People/Places," spearheaded by the Funders Network on Smart Growth and Livable Communities. This initiative aims to identify areas of intersections and commonalities – as well as gaps – in how funder networks work on issues related to healthy communites/people/places and to identify tools, resources and next steps to help funder networks work more effectively individually and collectively on healthy communities/people/places.
